CASL Compliance
GoToSleep.ca complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), S.C. 2010, c. 23. This page explains how we obtain consent before sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs), what we send, and how you can withdraw consent at any time.
What Is CASL?
CASL is Canadian federal legislation that regulates the sending of commercial electronic messages — including email newsletters, promotional messages, and similar communications — to recipients in Canada. It requires senders to obtain express or implied consent before sending CEMs, to identify themselves clearly, and to provide a functional unsubscribe mechanism in every message.
How We Obtain Consent
We collect email addresses and send commercial electronic messages only where one of the following applies:
- Express consent: You have actively opted in to receive communications from GoToSleep.ca — for example, by completing a sign-up form and checking a consent checkbox. We do not pre-check consent boxes.
- Implied consent: You have made a purchase or entered into a business relationship with us within the preceding 24 months, consistent with CASL's implied consent provisions.
We maintain records of how and when consent was obtained. We do not purchase email lists or add recipients without their knowledge.
What We Send
If you have subscribed to communications from GoToSleep.ca, you may receive:
- New content alerts — guides, blog posts, and sleep research summaries
- Occasional product and supplement recommendations relevant to sleep health
- Site updates or announcements
We do not sell or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
How to Unsubscribe
Every commercial electronic message we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it will remove you from our mailing list within 10 business days, as required by CASL. You can also request removal by contacting us directly with your email address and an unsubscribe request.
Our Identity
All commercial electronic messages from GoToSleep.ca clearly identify us as the sender and include a way to contact us. Our mailing address and contact information are included in every message footer.
Questions
If you have questions about our CASL compliance practices, believe you have received a message from us without valid consent, or wish to exercise any rights under CASL, please contact us. We take these obligations seriously and will respond promptly.
